“The tolerances on the lenses that OSI has made and tested are unprecedented. Not only will they allow NIRCam to accomplish its own scientific mission, but since NIRCam serves as the main reference for precisely aligning all the mirrors in the main telescope, OSI’s work benefits the other three instruments as well.
OSI’s optics will record images of the youngest, most distant stars and galaxies ever seen in the Universe as well as images of planets around other stars and regions of star birth in galaxies not yet discovered. These pictures should completely change the way the world views the heavens as well as our origins and will have a permanent affect on history.”
